All art is abstract. It is a definition of reality as viewed by the artist. Most of my art is loosely based on that reality, and can be defined as realism. However, a large part of my work pushes beyond the boundaries of realism and tends to be far more abstract than real. I often incorporate fantastical, dream-like and surreal images that question our understanding of reality. I will also move that boundary even further at times so that there is nothing representational at all. At that point, I am more interested in the emotional impact created by the art as a thing in its own right. The art is the object and the subject at once. Titles applied to non-reprentational art are usually assigned based upon my own visceral reaction to the work....
